Law Association Of Zambia Employment Opportunity: Executive Director

The Law Association of Zambia (“LAZ” or “the Association”) is seeking to recruit an Executive Director for the Association. The Executive Director shall be responsible for the administrative management of the Association, implement the Strategic Plan of the Association to enhance its delivery of high quality services to its members and stakeholders.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

 Oversee all accounting functions including those necessary for auditing, budgeting, financial analysis, capital asset and property management and payroll in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles, procedures, and all other applicable rules and guidelines with the approval of the LAZ Council.
 Handle the human resource management for all the Secretariat staff including but not limited to hiring and termination, developing position descriptions, applying LAZ-approved employee policies and benefits with the approval of the Council.
 Interact with members of the Association, personnel and stakeholders
 Be responsible for any donor grants and contract management including coordinating with the cooperating partners to finalize agreement terms; monitor progress of agreements and maintain agreement documentation to ensure fulfillment of agreement terms including receipt and expenditure of funds with the approval of the Council.
 Assist in the development of current and long term organizational goals and objectives as well as policies and procedures for the Association’s operations.
 Develop plans to achieve goals set by the LAZ Council and implement policies and programmes, subject to approval by the Council.
 Promote and enhance the profile and operations of the Association.
 Maintain, foster and establish networks and relationships between the Association, regional and international Organizations and stakeholders.
 Work closely with the professional and other staff members to ensure they are provided with appropriate support systems in the operations of the Association.
 Analyze and evaluate vendor services, particularly for insurance, employee benefits and management of the Association’s funds, to determine programmes and providers that best meet the needs of the Association and makes recommendations to Council as appropriate.
 The Executive Director must be able to travel to attend conferences, training and other events as required, acquiring and maintaining proficiency in fulfilling the responsibilities of the position.

Academic and Professional Qualification:

 A degree in Public Administration or Business Administration from a recognized University
 A degree in law will be an added advantage.
 Minimum of 8 years post-qualification administration/management experience is required.

 Demonstrate skill in fundraising and proposal writing
 Demonstrate skills in strategic leadership, planning and decision making
 Must have good oral and written communication skills, computer literacy, team building skills and ability to work under pressure.
